🚔 New powers strengthen our response to persistent antisocial behaviour |
||
|
This morning, officers from the #ValleyBeatTeam are attending training on the new Respect Orders, which were officially introduced yesterday.
These new orders give police and partner agencies, including local councils across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, additional powers to tackle persistent antisocial behaviour and protect our communities.
Respect Orders can place restrictions on an adult's behaviour and may also include positive requirements, such as attending drug or alcohol treatment, anger management programmes, or other interventions designed to address the root causes of offending and reduce future antisocial behaviour.
Each case will be considered carefully, taking into account the available evidence, individual circumstances and any associated risks. Those subject to a Respect Order can be arrested if they are suspected of breaching its conditions, with any breach potentially resulting in a criminal offence.
We are already exploring opportunities to utilise these new powers to help keep our communities safe and address the individuals responsible for causing the most harm.
